World's Largest Swimming Pool - Chile

If you like doing laps in the swimming pool, you might want to stock up
on the energy drinks before diving in to this one.









It is more than 1,000 yards long, covers 20 acres, had a 115ft deep end
and holds 66 million gallons of water.

Yesterday the Guinness Book of Records named the vast pool beside the
sea in Chile as the biggest in the world.

But if you fancy splashing out on one of your own - and you have the
space to accommodate it - then beware: This one took five years to
build, cost nearly ?billion and the annual maintenance bill will be
?million.

The man-made saltwater lagoon has been attracting huge crowds to the San
Alfonso del Mar resort at Algarrobo, on Chile 's southern coast, since
it opened last month.

Its turquoise waters are so crystal clear that you can see the bottom
even in the deep end.

It dwarfs the world's second biggest pool, the Orthlieb - nicknamed the
Big Splash - in Morocco , which is a mere 150 yards long and 100 yards
wide. An Olympic size pool measures some 50 yards by 25 yards.

Chile 's monster pool uses a computer- controlled suction and filtration
system to keep fresh seawater in permanent circulation, drawing it in
from the ocean at one end and pumping it out at the other.

The sun warms the water to 26c, nine degrees warmer than the adjoining
sea.

Chilean biochemist Fernando Fischmann, whose Crystal Lagoons Corporation
designed the pool, said advanced engineering meant his company could
build "an impressive artificial paradise" even in inhospitable areas.

Rednecks of the Blogging World

I called Becca today and told her we needed to change the blog template as soon as possible. She did a wonderful job making one for Christmas, but sadly the season has come and gone. Much like our friends in Apache Junction who leave their Christmas lights up all year long, we were heading down the same road leaving our Christmas background on all year long. We are sorry and will soon update the background, until then enjoy the generic template.

Lucas Loves Music!

This past week we found out Lucas has a real love for music. He is always moving to the music and when placed in front of a piano he jams out. This past weekend we went to one of Uncle Nick’s shows where his band was playing (they are awesome). Grandma Sally was holding Lucas, I stood between the stage and Lucas for a brief moment, Lucas quickly pushed me out of the way because I was obstructing his view of the young lady who was performing. His eyes were glued to the performers the majority of the night. The following day we went out to eat and Jack Johnson was playing in the car, while sleeping he began to sing along. He's amazing, and he loves his music!

Sporting the New Hair Do

Driving around the valley for work, like I do everyday I noticed there was snow on Four Peaks Mountains. It was a little weird seeing snow, I realized I didnt like the idea of snow anywhere near the valley. If I wanted snow I would move to Utah! I dont want to live in Utah, so I hope the snow melts and disappears as quickly as possible. I can't wait for the 115 degree summers!
